New Bedford Announcement Reminder: ARPS and Cares Act Money is Still Available

New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell’s announcement May 13th of a major funding opportunity is a reminder for all SCORE RI mentors and clients that CARES and American Rescue Plan Act money and awards are still available and can be applied for.

The New Bedford City Council recently approved nearly $65 million in ARPA funding. Mayor Mitchell announced that grants with a matching component will be available from as little as $100,000 to $400,000 for arts and cultural projects to revitalize buildings, equipment and outdoor spaces.

Recognizing that cultural facilities in New Bedford generates economic activity that supports small businesses and are “economic anchors in their neighborhoods”. Mitchell said, “We want to accelerate their emergence from the pandemic by helping them upgrade their buildings and grounds.”

UPDATE:

Our Southcoast SCORE Mentor Dennis Callanan alerted us about other resources for New Bedford businesses since we first posted.

NBEDC Executive Director, Derek Santos has pledged to provide grants up to $10,000 to assist up to 100 NB start-up businesses over the next two years. (nbedc.org)
