There are thousands of sites on the Internet offering help to small business. Here are a few that RI SCORE counselors have found particularly helpful: 

For Getting Started in Rhode Island:

• The RI Secretary of State's QUICKSTART site allows you to download the Rhode Island State forms you need to open your business. Click on Choose Your Business Type and then on your type of business to see them listed.
• Another page on the Secretary of State website is where you register your new business entity.
• The RI Division of Taxation is all about Rhode Island Income taxes - business and personal, resident and non, estimated taxes, online filing and more.

US Government sites:

• USA.gov is a pot pourri of information on buying and selling to the Government, exporting, laws and business statistics.
• IRS provides information about taxes including forms of organization, classifying employees, online filing and much more.
• U.S. Census Bureau, State & County Quick Facts gives population, income, and other key statistics for the state of Rhode Island and for your Town by selecting it from the pull-down menu.

For Funding:

• Rhode Island Lenders is a list of banks offering SBA guaranteed loans.

• Capital Good Fund is a Providence based, non profit micro lender offering one year loans up to $3000.
• ACCION USA is a leading provider of loans to small business owners who are unable to access traditional credit.
• SEED Corporation is an SBA approved lender in Southern New England with a "downloadable" loan application and business plan outline.
• Slater technology Fund is a Rhode Island based fund providing start up capital to technological based enterprises with high growth potential.
